I Love Hershey Kisses Brownies
     These brownies have a unique story behind them. I first made them for a church picnic several weeks ago. Since this was a new recipe I had made up, I wanted to have them taste-tested before bringing them to a potluck. While I thought they were absolutely delicious, my husband called them “disgustingly sweet” and “too chocolatey.” To my surprise, he encouraged me to toss them aside and bake something else for the picnic! Seeing that I was low on time, I brought the brownies anyway and I got rave reviews from everyone who ate them.
     Now fast forward to this past weekend.  My brother and his beautiful family came in for a visit from Ohio, and they love chocolate and sweets just as much as I do. I made these brownies for the second time, brought them over to my mom’s where they were staying, and they LOVED them. In fact, my brother called them the best brownies he had ever eaten. (I believe him too because he actually wrote that on his facebook status). All the kids, ages 3-16, really seemed to love them too.
     So what makes these brownies so special? I took my grandmother’s brownie recipe and substituted a WHOLE bag of mini Hershey kisses for the walnuts. I under-baked these for just a minute or two to keep them moist. Next I frosted them with a homemade milk chocolate chip boiled frosting. After the frosting set, I placed one milk chocolate Hershey Kiss on top of each cut brownie.
     If you love milk chocolate (or any chocolate for that matter), I would highly suggest you try this recipe. One bite gives you a huge burst of Hershey milk chocolate heaven. Hence the name, “I Love Hershey Kisses Brownies.” This recipe has quickly become my go-to brownie. By the way, I bet you can’t eat just one!
I put a WHOLE bag of these kisses in the brownie batter!
The brownie batter will be on the thick side.
Edges are slightly golden and the brownies are still nice and moist.
The poured frosting will take about an hour to set completely.

I Love Hershey Kisses Brownies

Ingredients
  • Brownie Base:
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1&1/2 cups flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • dash salt
  • 1 (10 oz.) bag miniature Hershey kisses
  • -------
  • Milk Chocolate Boiled Frosting:
  • 6 Tablespoons butter
  • 6 Tablespoons milk
  • 1&1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • --------
  • 32 Hershey Kisses (regular size)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixer bowl on medium speed, beat eggs, butter, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.
  2. Add flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Beat just until well blended.
  3. Fold in miniature Hershey kisses. Spread batter evenly into a greased 9"x13" baking pan. Bake for 38-40 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack. Frost.
  4. For the frosting: Combine butter, milk, and sugar in a small saucepan. Stir constantly over medium heat until mixture reaches a rolling boil. Boil and stir 1 minute. Remove from heat. Quickly stir in the chocolate chips and vanilla. Pour over warm brownies and let set before cutting.
  5. For the garnish: Once brownie frosting has set, cut brownies into rows of 8x4, making 32 brownies. Carefully twirl a Hershey Kiss on top of each brownie. Enjoy!
