Happy Easter Cakes

It has been a couple years since I have made a layer cake, but for this Easter I decided to bake two of them. (I will be posting my recipes in days to come). For those of you looking for decorating ideas, I wanted to go ahead and post pictures of my creations.

The first cake is a marascino cherry layer cake with cherry bakery style frosting. (The inspiration comes from Bird on a Cake). To decorate it, I sprinkled the top with Wilton micro spring mix sprinkles. To garnish the sides, I used a peeps paper template beneath waxed paper to squeeze melted white candy melts to the correct bunny shape. I then sprinkled the tops with Wilton rainbow sparkling sugar. To paste the sixteen white chocolate bunnies to the sides of the cake, I used some leftover cherry frosting.

The second cake is an old fashioned chocolate layer cake.  (This was from my own inspiration). I used a little bit of decorator frosting to glue a pattern of mini Cadbury eggs around the edges. For the bottom, I evenly placed sixteen miniature Reese’s eggs around. I squeezed a dollop of yellow decorator frosting in between the Reese’s eggs, and then placed a yellow mini Cadbury egg on top. This gives the illusion of a marshmallow Peep chick.

In conclusion, I wish you and yours a very Happy Easter. May you be blessed with the glorious love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
