“Philly” Orange Creme Sugar Cookies

One of my favorite Christmas cookies is my grandmother’s “philly” sugar cookies. Yes, I do realize it is long past Christmas, but that doesn’t mean I can’t play around with a recipe, right? So here we are…”philly” sugar cookies flavored with a Duncan Hines Frosting Creations ‘orange creme’ packet. As if these cookies didn’t already taste amazing, I drizzled them with plenty of rich melted white chocolate. The results are incredibly delicious treats reminiscent of orange creamsicle bars.

Total time
Serves: 48
  • 1 (8 oz.) package Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup butter, softened (can use margarine instead)
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 packet Duncan Hines Frosting Creations - orange creme flavor
  • 1&3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • *melted white chocolate, for drizzling
  1. In a stand mixer, combine the cream cheese, butter, and sugar until smooth. Add the frosting creations packet, flour and salt, mixing until well combined. Refrigerate until chilled, at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Form tablespoons of dough into balls. Place on silpat or parchment paper lined cookie sheet and flatten slightly with your fingers.
  3. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until set. (Cookies should not be browned-just nicely set and very lightly golden on the bottom).
  4. When cookies have cooled, drizzle with melted white chocolate.
