Perfect Bacon

I am not a bacon fan, but my husband Jeff enjoys it any chance he gets. In the past, I would cook his bacon in the microwave with a Makin Bacon tool. The tool works great if you want your bacon done in a flash and aren’t concerned if every piece is cooked exactly the same…But I found the perfect method for making uniform bacon with a wonderful texture, while still remaining healthier. Ever since I made bacon this way several months ago, I have not gone back to my old method.

Total time
Serves: 1-4
  • 1 pound bacon slices
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil, lifting up so that the sides are high as well. Place a wire cooling rack on top of the lined cookie sheet. Spray the cooling rack with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Place strips of bacon in a single layer on top of prepared cooling rack. Leave a small bit of space in between slices. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until done.
*Baking time varies depending on thickness. I used Oscar Mayer butcher thick cut bacon, and it took 25 minutes.
